Testimonials
I can’t begin to express how much we enjoyed the show this morning. Not only was it fantastic, but you did a terrific job teaching people about the books. I am really impressed. As you promised, it was entertaining and informative! So many people have told me throughout the day how much fun they had, which is unfair because you made it happen and you deserve their thanks. You are truly very smart, talented, funny, and musical people. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful performance. - Chris Johnson, McGraw Hill Higher Education Publishing
This last spring, we brought Storybox, CIF’s official improvisational outreach performance company, to perform in the San Francisco Improv Festival. We had a great time and we’re thrilled with the results we experienced. As a producer of an improv festival myself, there are only a few festivals or producers that I would trust investing our company’s energy, financial investment, and time into. I knew that Shaun Landry and anything Shaun was doing, representing or working with would be a great experience on and off stage. Whether she was on-stage emceeing with high energy to amp up the audiences, or whether she was answering our questions backstage, Shaun was never less than a gem to be cherished by everyone in our company.
Shaun also made sure that everyone of our 10 company members had a place to stay and good people to stay with. Shaun always treated us like major league rock stars.
Shaun gave a good stage to perform on, had very good tech people for us to work with, she marketed and promoted the festival to where we had sold-out houses to play to. We also were able to get some good industry exposure that served to give us further validation. Off-stage she feed us, she cooked for us, she bought us drinks, she danced with us, she laughed with us, she sang the praises of our show and our company, and she talked the art of improv and life with us.
I and the members of Storybox will always strongly consider making an appearance in any festival she is working on (no matter what city it might be in), because she is that good. Thanks to Shaun Landry & San Francisco for a great 4 days & nights! - Jonathan Pitts - Executive Director - The Chicago Improv Festival www.cif.com (For the full letter, please click here)

Shaun Landry has provided Lila Theatre with countless referrals, from talented students for our training center, to other improvisation groups for collaboration. Shaun has brought master improv teachers to the Bay Area, fostering a strong national improv connection. Her work developing the San Francisco Improv Festival continues to bring further credibility to the Bay Area Improv community. - Jill Mueller and Christopher Eickman - Lila Theater
I don’t think I ever took the time to thank you, thank you, thank you for setting up the workshop, for hanging out, and for swinging wide the SF improv community door during my visit. The workshop was effortlessly coordinated, and the jam was such fun - it’s amazing to see such a vibrant community of improvisers out there. But with you at the center of it, how could it be anything but vibrant? - Andy Eninger - Teacher The Second City Chicago & producer of The Sybil
I credit her with being the key to making San Francisco a center for this typically undervalued art form which is now recognized on a national and world wide scale. I am envious of the Improv community in San Francisco and I believe it is due primarily to Shaun’s efforts. I now go to San Francisco as often as I can now to further my studies in Improv and to belong to any organization that she heads or belongs too. - Linda Fulton - Owner - The Avery Schreiber Theatre, Los Angeles
In promotion, she covers all the bases, in production she is extremely professional and her performance skills impress me as her strength and commitment shine through. Thumbs up! - Diane Rachel, True Fiction Magazine.
Your guys were great! Thank you for your faith, your inspiration and for your couch! - David Razowsky - Artistic Director The Second City Los Angeles
Your actors were amazing. You directed them so well. In spite of your hectic schedule, YOU were on it, Shaun. You had things totally covered from top to bottom. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next! We’d be lucky to host anything you do. - Erin Ohannsen - Producer and Co-Owner The Dark Room Theater San Francisco
You rock Shaun — I used your SFIF media kit as a model for ours, which was really helpful! Thanks for your help promoting our little fest! - Stephie Tucker The Santa Cruz Improv Festival
I wanted to drop you a thank-you for performing with us a couple of weeks ago–we all had a great time watching you do your thing, and the show/drinks afterward was a great note to end our tour on. Some of us are even itching to try a little long-form. - David Chernicoff - Yale University’s Ex!T Players with Oui Be Negroes
I want to thank you very much for your help. Your answers were very insightful and have greatly added to my [improv] thesis. - Matt Fotis - Chicago Illinois

When JoKyR and Jesster were invited to perform in the San Francisco Improv Festival, a festival as unique in its structure as it it is for the service it provides to the San Francisco and national improv community, Shaun was the one who made sure we knew everything we needed to know. From which airport to fly into, to how to get around, to personally taking us out into the city, Shaun made us feel like her home was our home. She opened her house to not only our group, but many others as well during this festival. She personally made sure to introduce us to the people that we would be working with professionally and hanging out with socially.
As a teacher at the Toronto Improv Festival, I was personally impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail with which she approached her class on improvised monologues. She made sure every student got some personal feedback from her, as well as time to perform for the class. Her comments were poignant and helpful and belied her extensive experience as not only an improviser and director, but as a caring human being as well.
On a personal, Shaun is one of the most interesting and lovely people I have ever been blessed to know. A conversation with her is an event that is not to be taken lightly. It’s a long process that is filled with elaborate anecdotes, heartfelt struggle, and joyous laughter. She is a person that will live on in your memory as a beautiful after effect long after she has left the room.
Shaun Landry is not only a great improviser, producer, director and teacher, but also one hell of a fine human being. - Jesse Parent - Performer - JoKyR and Jesster/ Co-Editor - www.UtahImprov.com
